Execute jobs

Once created and assigned to the right member, jobs can be synchronized with the mobile, FTB or MaxTester and the appropriate tests can be executed.

On the mobile

Prerequisite

Before executing any tests, please ensure the following:

  • The right workspace has been selected
  • The jobs are visible on the jobs page
  • The test unit is paired and ready

Currently only the FIP-500 inspection scope and Optical Explorer (OX1) currently support jobs.
Please visit the Compatible products section to see if jobs are supported for your test unit

From the app

From the Jobs page, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the job you want execute
  2. Tap on the icon then select Send to test unit
  3. Select the relevant test unit (if you have more than one unit paired)
  4. Wait until the job have been successfully sent to your test unit

From your test unit

  1. Tap on the icon to open the main menu
  2. Select jobs icon from the menu
  3. Select the job you transferred
  4. Start testing as usual!

After the test execution

As tests are executed, results will be transferred automatically back to the mobile app and synced to your workspace. The job progress will be updated, and the corresponding verdicts icon will appear on the job’s detail page.

Note: The job’s details page lets you view the progress by either Test types or Test points

You can also view any job results directly from the app by taping on it.

From this result view, you can tap on the icon to perform further actions such as:

  • Add a photo using your smartphone camera
  • Add an existing image from the smartphone gallery
  • View already attached photos and images
  • Add the GPS location
  • Add a comment
  • View existing comments
  • Request result image (for FIP-500 results only)

Generic tests

Sometimes jobs include “generic” tests which do not require a specific test to be executed. Example of generic tests are to “take a picture” or “check if fiber is live”.

To execute “generic” tests from the mobile app, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the test
  2. Tap on Create result at the bottom of the screen
  3. Select appropriate verdict and Save

Once result verdict is saved, you can tap on the icon to perform further actions such as:

  • Add a photo using your smartphone camera
  • Add an existing image from the smartphone photo gallery
  • View already attached photos and images
  • Add a comment
  • View existing comments

Create a new result (which overwrites the existing one)

On the FTB and MaxTester

You can also execute a multitude of tests in jobs on your FTB and MaxTester platform, depending on the model and modules installed.

Most “optical” test applications already support jobs on both platforms.
Please visit the Compatible products section to see if jobs are supported for your test unit

Prerequisite

Before executing any tests, please ensure that:

  • The right workspace has been selected
  • The jobs are visible on the Jobs page
  • Your test unit is paired and ready

From the Exchange app

To execute a test inside a job, follow these steps:

  1. Tap on the icon next to the job

From the Test configurations button on the right-side menu, select the test configuration from the list of available configs.

When a job is associated with one or more test configurations, the relevant test application will allow the user to select only those test configurations when executing a test, as opposed to the default configurations provided with the test unit.

After the test execution

As test are executed, results (including binary files and reports) will be synced automatically to your workspace. The job progress will be updated, and the corresponding verdicts icon will appear on the job’s detail page.

Working offline

If there is no internet connection while the tests are being run, results will be stored locally on your smartphone or platform. Synchronization will start automatically when an internet connection is reestablished.
